This picture shows
the sky map display in My Skies. It is the main
display you work with when using the program for star
finding or to control a telescope. It shows a
real-time full-sky diagram of what is around you. It
shows the planets, and shows projection lines so you know
where the planets will be in a few minutes or hours.
Constellations, their names, and
their regions can be optionally turned on and off.
When a telescope is hooked up, a
position reticle is placed on the display. Right-click
on an object or in deep-space and tell the telescope to move
to that location. If eye-piece information of the
telescope is also selected, the proper viewing area is
displayed as well.
Future plans include the display of
deep-sky objects, comets, horizon view.

The best view.
It is a sky almanac for any time period and location on the
Earth. It shows the rise/transit/set times of all the
planets for each day in the interval specified. Very
cool. Tracking cross-hairs on
the almanac indicate exactly what day and time it is.
Future plans include the ability to
choose just to show night information, clicking on a
location to time advance the software, and to select objects
besides the planets for display. |
